A Sonnet to the Fields

In celebration of Shakespeare Day on 23rd April, we held a poetry competition for all of the budding writers out there! The poems came flooding in, but in the end there could only be one winner.

Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them, and our deserving victor, Nicola Hall certainly achieved greatness with her touching poem, ‘A Sonnet to the Fields’. Nicola was announced as the winner on Wednesday on Radio Humberside.

Without further ado, here is her masterpiece:

How can I describe the exquisite taste
Of dishes all lovingly prepared
With every morsel tenderly placed
And delicious wines beautifully paired?
The picture window offering a sight
Of the passion and skill of the team.
A dining room which is simply the height
Of splendid ambience in the extreme.
Wait staff, each dedicated to the task
Of exceeding every expectation.
More than any diner could ever ask:
Professional, with true dedication.
So, from which venue might you reap these yields?
Without a doubt, it’s Winteringham Fields
— A Sonnet to the Fields

Nicola has won a seven-course taster experience, whilst her beautiful ode to Winteringham Fields will be enjoyed by all our guests. After all, as old Billy Shakespeare one said; “All the world’s a stage.”

As well as an unforgettable seven-course fine dining experience, Nicola will meet Colin and the team who will present her with a signed copy of his book ‘A Table At The Fields’.

Well done Nicola!
